Benefits of Bamboo

Why Bamboo?

Biodegradable

Bamboo fiber based fabrics are biodegradable and decompose organically in the environment.

Ultra Soft

Dreamy soft fabric that’s gentle on your skin and the more you wash it the softer it gets.

Hypoallergenic

Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic, so it’s less likely to cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals.

Thermo-Regulating

Bamboo fabric is both breathable and moisture-wicking, making it naturally thermo-regulating, keeping you warm in winter and cool in the summer.

Breathable

Bamboo viscose is 3 times more absorbent than cotton. Because it absorbs moisture away from your skin, you feel dry and comfortable.

No Artificial Irrigation

Bamboo thrives on natural rainwater and requires zero irrigation. Unlike cotton which can take up to 20,000 litres of water to produce 1 kg of cotton.

Grown Organically

Up to 16% of the world’s pesticides are used in cotton farming every year. Unlike cotton, bamboo is a plant that grows naturally without any pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers.

Renewable Resource

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world growing up to 1m per day, making it truly a renewable resource.

Improving Air Quality

Bamboo plantations produce 30% more oxygen than an equivalent area of trees.

Antibacterial & Antifungal

Bamboo is antibacterial and antifungal due to a  natural bio agent  in the plant called “bamboo kun¨.  Bamboo kun  prevents bacterial growth in the fabric fibers. This makes our garments odour-resistant while eliminating the need for anti-microbial chemical treatments, which are  known to  be harmful to the environment and cause allergic reactions.

Introducing

Bamboo Certifications

Since our launch in February 2020 we have set out to become fully accountable for the lifecycle of our raw materials and final products. After nearly a year of research and development working tirelessly with sustainable yarn manufacturers and fabric developers we launched our new custom made Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified bamboo fabrics. Not only is our new "Enviro Rib" bamboo fabric the first of its kind, we know exactly how and where our bamboo is grown.

Our internationally recognized certifications ensure that all bamboo involved in the production of our clothing comes from organically grown FSC certified plantations that have been rigorously audited to guarantee SANS FAFF’S bamboo will not contribute to natural habitat loss or deforestation. In addition, our fabrics are also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certified to be free from harmful chemicals.
